April 2026 UPDATE:
Factoryville & Camera’s in Courtroom Bill

Been a busy but productive month here at the Mayor’s office.

Still have three more dates in April reserved for meetings at the borough building.  13th and 27th for Christy Mathewson organizational meetings.  6PM anyone wishing to be involved you are welcome to attend. CM Days are June 6th.
April 30th we have called a Mayor’s Conference, starting with our local 6/11 corridor here, to kick around some out of the box ideas, and how together we can promote our communities.  In attendance will be myself representing Factoryville, Stacy Huber of Tunkhannock, Jeff Zick of Hop Bottom, Chuck Litwin of Nicholson, and Harrison Wolff of Dalton.

Met with Gary Evans (previous Mayor), a few times this month on a number of issues, including Memorial Day Services.  Really want to a give shout out to Gary for making this transition as smooth as possible, and sharing his 24 years of knowledge.  Also want to mention the unbelievable work he did with John Litwin in putting together a spread sheet of the Evergreen-Woodlawn, Veterans Interment Record.  All 340 names will be remembered on Memorial Day.

Anabel Gainor our April Junior Mayor spoke before council on Wednesday.  What a great job she did, letting them know some of her suggestions for making a better community, including a community garden to be used for the local food bank, and a program where high school students could help with tutoring and transition from Grammar School to High School.  Anabel will also be helping coordinating the planting of our Apple Tree Project.

Speaking of Apples Trees, the Apple Orchard Project, coordinating with the Lackawanna Trail Grammar School is pretty much put to bed.  Only planting remains to be done late April. early May.  Trees are ordered, and approvals from the Creekside Park Board are in place.  Met with the 6th grade along with Kelly Stewart from the Keystone College Environmental Institute, where we discussed a little civics and how government works, along with soil samples and preparation, cross pollination, and tree samples.  Each year, the graduating 6th grade will plant 6 trees, with the hope in 20 or so years they can show their kids where they planted their roots in Factoryville.  All trees and materials and donated by 6 Factoryville residents.

And Finally:

Camera’s in Courtrooms, Bill HB 1397

Legislature is back in session this coming Monday and we will be hand delivering sometime later this week, a letter to every sitting Representative and State Senator a copy of HB 1397 requesting them to co-sponsor.

We also plan to talk with everyone on the current primary ballot requesting their support also.  In the coming weeks you will be able to see a scorecard on The Independent Gazette website on who is supporting, and who is not.

Last night I met Tyler Meyers who is running against Senator Lisa Baker, and he registered his support.  I will meet Senator Baker later this week or next.  I also got word that Jamie Walsh joined as a co-sponsor this morning.  Currently at 13 co-sponsors, but we are just beginning and won’t stop until we have answers from every Pennsylvania Legislator.

In the era of Kids for Cash, Custody4Cash, and Epstein Files, there must be total transparency in our court system.

The message is clear to any of our elected officials get behind this initiative, or you don’t deserve our vote.

Feel free to touch base if you want more information, and please contact your local Representative, it’s only a phone call away.

Thanks, Lou!!
